Very typical of Kokani salaan/curry.This is bland yet cool and rich too,ideal in summer.Bottle gourd fresh pieces fleshy and juicy,coconut milk,green chillies,curry leavez sone lemon leaves

Nariyal lauki ka Phika salan/curry

Ingredients to make Nariyal lauki ka Phika salan/curry

  • 250 grams bottle gourd/Lauki
  • 1 cup thick coconut milk dabur i used
  • 1 onion chopped fine
  • 1-2 whole green chillies
  • 1 tspn crushed garlic
  • 2 tblspn oil
  • 1tspn ghee
  • 2tblspn wheat flour
  • curry leaves
  • Half a raw mango optional

How to make Nariyal lauki ka Phika salan/curry

  1. Peel clean Lauki
  2. Cut into thick moons
  3. Ready all ingredients in place
  4. Heat oil and splutter curry leaves add onions
  5. Add 1 /4th tspn turmeric and salt here
  6. Now add lauki pieces and saute
  7. Add1 cup water cook 5 -7 minutes ,cover cook now
  8. Make slurry of two tblspn wheat flour
  9. Add water to the Cooking lauki and the slurry too cook stirring for a few minutes
  10. As it boils add the 1 cup thick coconut milk now and bring to boil
  11. Now make a baghar with ghee green chillies rai
  12. Put on the cooked lauki curry
  13. Enjoy with steamed rice

My Tip:

Can add kairi pieces to make it khatti gravy too Can use maggi coconut powder to make coconut milk too
