Iyengar Kolumbu

Ingredients to make Iyengar Kolumbu

  • Vegetable (beans or mix veggies or dill leaves or green leaves etc)
  • Toor dal - 1 cup
  • salt to taste
  • curry leaves - few
  • masala :
  • coconut fresh - 1/4 cup
  • Red chillies whole - 2 or 3 (adjust as per taste)
  • coriander seeds - 1 tsp
  • mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • asafoetida - A Pinch
  • turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp

How to make Iyengar Kolumbu

  1. Prepare toor dal and veggies ( cook your vegetables you like)
  2. In a blender / mixer add ingredients of masala grind into a smooth paste
  3. In a pan add toor dal, add masala , then add 1/2 cup of water
  4. Bring to a boil stir once add salt and curry leaves
  5. Serve with white rice.
