A goan dish with a Portuguese touch. But, now it has become an Indian dish .

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Chicken 500g
  2. Onion 2 small, chopped
  3. Tomato 1 big chopped or puree
  4. Potato 1, small, cut into big pieces
  5. Salt
  6. Water 1 to 1 1/2 cups
  7. Oil 3 tbsp
  8. For Vindaloo Masala
  9. Kashmiri chilli 15
  10. Jeera 1/4 tsp
  11. Methi seeds 2 pinch
  12. Ginger 1 small piece
  13. Garlic 5 cloves
  14. Pepper 1/2 tsp
  15. Cardamom 2
  16. Cloves 3
  17. Cinnamon 1 small piece
  18. Rice vinegar or ordinary vinegar 1 tbsp
  19. Turmeric 1/4 tsp

Instructions

  1. Grind the Masalas given, to a fine paste.
  2. Heat oil in a big kadai. Add onion .Fry till it s colour changes.
  3. Then add tomato. Cook till its well mashed. Tomato puree cooks fast.
  4. Then add ground Masala. Fry till oil separates. Or till it s raw taste goes.
  5. Then add chicken , stir well. Keep on stiring for a long time.
  6. Add potato & water. Cover & cook on medium flame. If needed add some more water. Because , some chicken does nt have too much water.
  7. Remove when chicken s well cooked & gravy s semi thick. I added some curry leaves .
  8. Serve hot with rice or any rotis.
