ABOUT Coastal Fish Pulao RECIPE

The use of Surmai/ KingFish with coconut-curd marinade. The sauted fish is added to dress the pulao made with coconut milk half and half water, fried onions and potatoes.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Surmai / King fish pieces 10
  2. Rice 1/2 kg
  3. Rice bran oil 200 ml
  4. Potatoes 6, boiled
  5. Onions 4, chopped
  6. 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  7. 1 tsp green chillies paste
  8. Curd 250 gms
  9. Salt and pepper to taste
  10. Garam masala 1 tsp
  11. 1 tbsp coconut powder, optional

Instructions

  1. Clean the fish well and dab them dry. Then apply a litlle salt. Keep aside.
  2. Mix the ginger-garlic paste, green chillies paste, salt, pepper, garam masala, 1 tsp coconut powder and some curd to make a fine paste. Then apply this paste to the fishes.
  3. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a deep pot, place the fish slowly on a low flame and sauté on both sides. Once done, remove on to a plate and keep aside.
  4. Add some oil to the same pot and fry the chopped onions a little. Add rest of the coconut powder and salt to taste. To cook the 1/2 kg rice add the measured exact double water and mix it with the coconut milk.
  5. Add fried or boiled potatoes into the rice and put it to cook on a low flame.
  6. Once done, remove the rice in a rice tray and place the fried fish on the top to garnish.
  7. Serve it hot.
