About crab curry/ kNakrar kosha Recipe

crab is my all time favourite sea food.we used to have this yummiest curry in our childhood days. i share today my mom's recipe basically with all of you.

Ingredients to make crab curry/ kNakrar kosha

  • crabs 1 kg
  • muatard oil 200 ml
  • onions finely sliced 3 medium
  • tomatoes slices 2
  • turmeric powder 2 tspn
  • red chilly powder 1/2 tspn
  • bay leaves
  • slited green chilles 4/5
  • spices ro be grind into smooth paste 1--
  • dried red chillies 10
  • ginger 60 gms
  • coriander seed 1 tblspn
  • cumin seeds 1 tspn
  • black peppercorn 10
  • garlic cloves 12
  • coconut 1/2 cup
  • tamarind pulp 1 tspn
  • spices to be grind in to smooth paste 2---
  • cinnamon 2" stick
  • cloves 7
  • green cardamoms 10

How to make crab curry/ kNakrar kosha

  1. break the claws and legs of the crabs first, then clean the
  2. wash them properly
  3. now put water in a kadai,add salt and turmeric, put the washed crabs into it,bring into a boil.
  4. properly boil them,then discard water,set aside the crabs
  5. heat the 1/3 of oil in a pan,add bay leaves to crackle,saute the onions until soft,
  6. then add tomatoes, saute in medium heat until it gets melted
  7. now add the masala paste-1 and salt saunted with ths tomato-onions till the whole things changes it's colour to a darker shade
  8. now add 1/2 of the remaining oil into the pan,add the crabs and mix with the spices in high flame for 3 min
  9. add turmeric,red chilly powder,slited green chilles
  10. after the add a splash of water to the pan, scrap the fried spices in the periphery of the pan,mix with the water
  11. saute 3 min in medium flame, before this add the remaining oil,
  12. pour 1 cup of warm water into this,bring into boil
  13. keep boiling till it release a oily layers on ths top of the gravy
  14. switch of flame
  15. now add ths spices paste 2,keep under a lid for 5 min to help to infuse the aroma into the gravy
  16. serve hot with rice

My Tip:

You can switch to kashmiri red chilly powder in the place of chilly powder
