About Kuzhalappam. Recipe

A traditional Kerala snack.

Kuzhalappam.

Ingredients to make Kuzhalappam.

  • Rice flour 1 cup
  • Boiled water just to make dough
  • jeera 2 pinch
  • sesame seeds 2 pinch.
  • salt
  • To grind
  • coconut 1/4 cup
  • Small onion 3
  • garlic 2
  • oil to deep fry.

How to make Kuzhalappam.

  1. Grind the given ingredients to a fine paste, without adding water.
  2. Add the ground mixture to the rice flour. Mix well. Add salt & hot water to make a stiff dough , adding 1 tbsp of oil.
  3. Keep aside the dough for some time.
  4. Make balls from the dough.
  5. Take a plastic sheet , apply some oil. Place a ball of daugh on the sheet. Cover with another sheet with oil brushed. Roll with a chapathi roller.
  6. Roll like small poori s & make the shape of a tube, with hands or with the roller, sealing the edges.
  7. Roll every kuzhalappam & deep fry in oil. It lasts for some days , if kept properly.

My Tip:

It needs practice to roll in the shape. Make small kuzhalappams. That s easier.
