ABOUT Falahari Dhokla RECIPE

These are very light,spongy and extremely delicious :yum::yum:"Falahari Dhokla"...perfect for fasting...:thumbsup:

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 cup Sama Rice 
  2.  1/3 cup Sabudana/Sago Pearls
  3. 1/2cup Beaten Curd (yogurt)
  4. 3-4 tbsp Water (add slowly to adjust consistency)
  5. 1/2 tsp Soda powder
  6. 1 tsp Lemon juice
  7. 1 tsp Sugar
  8. 1.5 tsp Baking powder 
  9. Salt to taste.(fasting)
  10. 1 teaspoon Oil to grease the bowl
  11. FOR TEMPERING 2 tablespoon Oil                
  12. 3-4 pieces of Green Chilies
  13. 8-10 leaves of Curry leaves
  14. 1/2teaspoon Sugar (optional)


  1. Soak sama ke chawal  in water for 3- 4 hours and grind to smooth paste .
  2. Grind sabudana into powdered form
  3. Combine powdered sabudana and sama rice paste in a bowl. Add curd and blend the mixture to make a smooth batter. Batter should be creamy not grainy,if it's grainy, blend until smooth. Batter should be of a pouring consistency. Add water to adjust consistency.
  4. Let it rest for overnight or 4 hours
  5. .Assemble rest of the ingredients and add it to the batter. Beat it well. The more the air is incorporated the lighter the dhokla will be.
  6. When ready to steam, add baking powder.Mix it well.Pour batter in the greased tray and.Steam for 12- 15 minutes until the knife comes out clean.Allow it to cool completely.
  7. In a Pan heat oil,add ,green chillies,curry leaves,water,sugar,salt. now pour it on the steamed dhokla.   
  8. Cut into desired shapes and serve with dhaniya chatni...
