A popular vietnamese treat. This steamed rice cakes r sweet & soft.

Puto. Vietnamese rice cakes.

Ingredients to make Puto. Vietnamese rice cakes.

  • Rice flour 1 1/2 cups
  • Plain flour 1/2 cup
  • sugar 1/4 to 1/2 cup . according to taste
  • coconut milk 1/2 cup
  • water 1/2 cup
  • Veg oil 1/4 cup
  • Yeast 1 1/2 tsp dissolve in 1 tsp of sugar & 3 tbsp of warm water.

How to make Puto. Vietnamese rice cakes.

  1. Mix all ingredients one by one, without any lumps.
  2. Keep the batter for 4 hrs.
  3. Take muffin moulds .Grease it. Pour about 3/4 , In each. Or take a big pan & steam as one full cake.
  4. Steam for 20 to 25 min or till a tooth pick comes out clean.

My Tip:

U can add any colour or avoid it if u dont want. U can steam as a full cake without steaming in moulds.
