Drumstick Chicken

Ingredients to make Drumstick Chicken

  • For chicken marination use:
  • turmeric Powder
  • red chilly powder
  • coriander Powder
  • tomato cubes
  • ginger pasta
  • For tempering use:
  • asafoetida/ hing
  • curry leaves
  • Black and yellow mustard
  • Dried whole red chilly
  • Whole urad dal
  • For gravy use:
  • Finely chopped onions
  • tamarind pulp
  • Drumsticks cut into 2.5 inches long
  • oil
  • salt

How to make Drumstick Chicken

  1. Marination-
  2. Clean chicken pieces
  3. Place it in a clean bowl, add turmeric, red chilly, coriander powder, chopped tomatoes, ginger paste
  4. Mix well the whole masala with the chicken and keep aside for 30-60 minutes
  5. Seperately, chop onion and cut drumstick and keep aside. Soak tamarind in a small bowl for later use
  6. After 30-60minutes of the marination, heat kadai add oil now add all the masala for tempering
  7. Now, add the chopped onions fry till the onions turn translucent
  8. Add marinated chicken to the kadai, now mix the masala well
  9. When the masla gets cooked add drumstick and 1/2 cup water as per the requirement to make gravy, wait till you see oil floating on the top of the gravy
  10. Now you can add the tamarind pulp and another 1.5 cup water
  11. Wait till it gets cooked. Serve hot with steam rice

My Tip:

Use fresh drumstick. Allow the drumstick to cook in the masala before adding water this makes it juicy.
