Rajasthani Mirchi Vada

Ingredients to make Rajasthani Mirchi Vada

  • 5-6 Bhavnagri green chillies or any Chillies (Banana Peppers) which are on the lower end of heat
  • 2-3 potatoes boiled and mashed
  • 1-1/2 - 2 Cups gram flour (Besan)
  • 2 green chillies finely chopped
  • 1/4 Teaspoon asafoetida (Hing)
  • 1 Tablespoon red chilli powder
  • 1 Tablespoon fennel seeds powder ( Saunf powder)
  • 1 Tablespoon cumin powder
  • 1 Tablespoon anardana or Aamchur powder
  • Finely Chopped Fresh coriander Leaves
  • salt to taste

How to make Rajasthani Mirchi Vada

  1. In a bowl combine mashed Potatoes, Red Chilli Powder, Cumin Powder, Fennel Powder, Anardana Powder, Chopped Green Chillies, Chopped Coriander Leaves and Salt as per taste.
  2. Slit Green Chillies and de-seed if you wish.
  3. Stuff this mixture into the green chillies.
  4. Prepare thick batter of gram flour, red chilli powder and salt by adding little water at a time.
  5. Heat oil in frying pan to a moderate tempareture. 
  6. Dip stuffed chillies into the gram flour batter and deep fry until golden brown in color.
  7. Serve hot with Sweet n Sour Khajur (Dates) & Imli(Tamarind)Chutney.
