ABOUT Aloo posto RECIPE

A very famous dish of Bengal.Spice potoatoes are cooked with poppy seed paste,green chilli and black carway.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Potato 4 medium chopped in cubes
  2. Poppy seeds 6 tbsp
  3. Green chilli 2nos
  4. Black caraway seeds/Nigella seeds 1 tsp
  5. Turmeric powder 1/2tsp
  6. Sugar 1/2 tsp
  7. Salt to taste 1tsp
  8. Mustard oil 2 tbsp
  9. Water 1/4cup

Instructions

  1. Soak 6 poppy seeds in 1/4cup of water for 20 mins atleast, it's ease the grinding procedure
  2. After soaking,add poppy seeds in the chutney grinder
  3. Add 1 green Chilli and fine into fine paste.
  4. In the meantime,clean and chop the potatoes in cubes
  5. Take a frypan add mustard oil,once heated and add Nigella seeds and sugar,stir and saute for few seconds
  6. Add chopped potatoes and saute it on low flame, stirring it on interval,till it's half done
  7. Add poppy seed and chilli paste and add turmeric powder
  8. Now add water to it and salt
  9. Now cover the pan with lid ,on simmer till all water dries up and potatoes are cooked
  10. Make sure potatoes are not over cooked and poppy seed paste is coated evenly
  11. Serve with rice/Indian bread
