About Shahi Ruhi.... Recipe

Ruhi & Katla are the two most well known fish of Bengal.Bengali people makes so many varieties of dishes with these fish.This one is very delicious & different in taste.

Shahi Ruhi....

Ingredients to make Shahi Ruhi....

  • Katla fish pieces...4
  • onion...1
  • garlic...5 to 7
  • Green chilli...4
  • poppy seeds...1tspn
  • Mastered seeds... 1tspn
  • Fresh malai...2tspn
  • coconut powder...1tspn
  • turmeric powder...1tspn
  • Red chilli powder...2tspn
  • salt to taste
  • sugar...1/4th tspn
  • Panch foron seeds...1tspn
  • coriander leaves a bunch

How to make Shahi Ruhi....

  1. Make a paste of coriander leaves,onion, garlic,poppy seeds, mastered seeds, fresh malai, salt & green chilli.
  2. Marinate the fish with salt, turmeric powder ,red chilli powder & shallow fry it.Take out the fish from oil after frying.
  3. Add panch foron seeds & green chilli in the same oil & let it crackle.
  4. Add green masala paste in it & cook it in high flame for few minutes.
  5. Add all spices , sugar & salt.Add some hot water.
  6. When it will start to leave bubble, add fried fishes.Cover it & let it cook.
  7. Cook it for 10 minutes & then switch off the flame.
  8. Its ready now.Serve it with hot long grain rice.
