Its a typical fish preparation made with bengali style marination.

Ingredients to make Bengali style pan seared fish

  • Pompano fish - 1pc
  • yellow mustard paste- 2-3 tablespoons
  • mustard oil - 2-3 teaspoons
  • carom seeds- 1/2 spoon
  • onion seeds-1/2 spoon
  • ginger garlic paste-1teaspoon
  • red chilly powder
  • turmeric
  • black pepper crushed
  • lemon juice-1teaspoon
  • black salt
  • table salt
  • pinch of sugar

How to make Bengali style pan seared fish

  1. Clean the fish and make few cuts on both the sides
  2. Mix all the marinate ingredients together.
  3. Now cover the fish with the marinate.
  4. Cover the bowl and keep it in fridge for 1hr.
  5. Put some mustard oil in a pan and heat it.Put fish in the pan and sear it nicely from both the sides till its cooked.
  6. Serve it with some fresh green salad.

My Tip:

Fish cooks very quickly so keep checking it as it takes around 15min to cook from both the sides.Squeeze some lemon juice on top for serving.
