About Bhaapa Illish Recipe

A bengali delicacy, steamed hilsa fish curry to be served with some steamed rice on the side.

Bhaapa Illish

Ingredients to make Bhaapa Illish

  • Illish Fish (pcs) - 3nos.
  • salt - as per taste
  • sugar - 1/2tsp
  • turmeric - 1tsp
  • mustard Oil - 3-4tbsp
  • Yellow mustard Paste - 2-3tbsp
  • poppy seeds paste - 1tbsp
  • green chillies - 4-5nos.
  • water - As per requirement of gravy.

How to make Bhaapa Illish

  1. Clean the fish with water & take it in a micriwave safe bowl.
  2. Marinate it with Salt, Sugar, Mustard Paste, Poppy seeds Paste, Turmeric powder & pour little Mustard Oil over it. Add some water as per your gravy needs. Put some slitted Green Chillies also.
  3. Put the bowl in the Micro+Convection mode for 15-20mins turning both the sides till the fish becomes soft. Serve with Hot Steamed Rice.

My Tip:

1. Do not over steam the fish as it contains protein. 2. While serving the fish you can put little mustard oil.
