A simple yet mouthwatering dish that uses onions cut in two ways. Slow cooking makes all the difference and hence pressure cooking is not recommended. Juicy succulent pieces are coated in lusciuos onion tomato gravy that is just too irrerestible. Happy Slow Cooking !!!!!!!!!!!

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Chicken 1 kg
  2. Salt 1 tbsp
  3. Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
  4. Cinnamon sticks 2
  5. Cloves 5
  6. Onions finely chopped 3
  7. Onion cubed 1
  8. Garam masala 1 tsp
  9. Red chilli powder 1 tbsp
  10. Turmeric 1 tsp
  11. Tomatoes chopped 3
  12. Green chillies 4
  13. Coriander leaves chopped 1/4 cup
  14. Ghee 1/4 cup


  1. Heat ghee and add cinnamon sticks and cloves.
  2. Followed by onions and ginger garlic paste.
  3. Saute the onions on a low heat until they are done.
  4. Slow cooking is recommended here and do not hurry up in sauteeing the onions. This step gives the authentic flavour to the dish.
  5. Now add tomatoes and the rest of the ingredients too.
  6. Add chicken allow it to simmer on low heat by covering with a lid. Do not add water.
  7. This slow cooking makes the chicken succulent and juicy.
  8. It takes almost 40-45 minutes to be done.
  9. Garnish with coriander leaves and adjust salt if required.
  10. Serve hot with naan or baghare chawal.
