About Mutton stew Recipe

It's a dish from UP which is a dry as well as gravy dish. It is best enjoyed with chapatis, naan or rice.

Mutton stew

Ingredients to make Mutton stew

  • 250 gm mutton
  • salt as per taste
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 6-7 medium sized onions
  • 6-7 garlic cloves
  • 4-5 peppercorns
  • 3-4 cloves
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 inch cinnamon stick
  • 1 black cardamom
  • 3-4 green cardamoms
  • 2 whole dried red chillies
  • 3/4 cup of water

How to make Mutton stew

  1. Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Add the sliced onions to it and saute till the colour changes slightly.
  2. Add mutton and cook for 2-3 mins. Then add the thinly sliced garlic and all the whole spices. Lastly add the salt and water.
  3. Close the lid of the cooker and allow it to cook until 3-4 whistles blow or until it is tender.
  4. Open the lid and saute it till all the water dries up and the oil starts to separate.
  5. Transfer it in a bowl or a platter n enjoy it with chapatis or rice.
