Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Banana stem- 1 cup chopped
  2. Moong dhal-1 cup cooked
  3. Onion-1
  4. Green chilli-1
  5. Curry leaves- handful
  6. Garlic-2
  7. Mustard-1 spoon
  8. Urid dhal-1/2 spoon
  9. Cumin seeds-1/2 spoon
  10. Turmeric powder-1 pinch
  11. Asafoetida-1/4 spoon
  12. Grated coconut-1 spoon
  13. Salt - as required
  14. Oil-1 tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Cook moong dhal in a cooker . While cooking add turmeric powder and asafoetida.
  2. Once it is done cook chopped banana stem along with dhal and keep one more whistle. Turn off flame and keep it aside.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and fry mustard wait till splutters.
  4. Add urid dhal and cumin seeds . Fry till brown.
  5. Add onion, curry leaves, green chilli and garlic. Fry till onion turns translucent.
  6. Add cooked banana stem and salt as required.
  7. Cook for 6-7 minutes and add grated coconut.
  8. Garnish with coriander leaves Serve hot with steamed rice and roti .
