ABOUT Rajwadi Khichdi RECIPE

This is masala khichdi made with dry fruits, tutti frutti and few vegetables.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. 1 &1/2 cup rice washed and soaked for 20 minutes
  2. 1/4 cup green moong sprouts
  3. 1/4 cup split moong dal washed and soaked
  4. 1/2 cup chopped vegetables (onions, potatoes and carrots)
  5. 3 tbsp of tutti frutti
  6. 3 tbsp of dry fruits ( cashew nuts and raisins)
  7. For Tempering:
  8. 2 tbsp Oil
  9. 2 tbsp ghee
  10. 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  11. 3-4 black pepper
  12. 1 bay leaf
  13. 6-8 curry leaves
  14. 1 green chilli
  15. 2-3 cloves
  16. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  17. 1/2 tsp khichdi masala
  18. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak rice and dal separately and keep them aside.
  2. Heat the oil and ghee in a non-stick pan for tempering.
  3. Add all the spices of tempering.
  4. After the mustard seeds crackles add the vegetables and let them cook for 10 mins by adding some water.
  5. Now add salt, turmeric powder, khichdi masala and the soaked rice, dal and the sprouts.
  6. Add sufficient amount of water and cook for 10 mins.
  7. After 10 mins add 2 tbsp of dry fruits and 1 tbsp of tutti frutti and cook till done.
  8. Finally top the khichdi with remaining dry fruits and tutti frutti!
  9. Tadda your yummy rajwadi khichdi is ready to serve with papad and masala dahi.
