Raw Papaya Stuffed Beetroot Suji Idli

Ingredients to make Raw Papaya Stuffed Beetroot Suji Idli

  • Ingredients for stuffing:
  • Raw papaya cut in small pieces : 1cup
  • turmeric powder : 1/2 teaspoon
  • mustard seeds : 1/2 teaspoon
  • fenugreek seeds : 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt and chilly according to taste
  • onion finely chopped : 1 tablespoon
  • oil : 1 tablespoon
  • Roasted cumin powder : 1 teaspoon
  • Ingredients for idli :
  • Suji : 1cup
  • mustard seeds : 1/2 teaspoon
  • curry leaves : 10-12
  • Salt and chilly according to taste
  • oil : 1 tablespoon
  • Eno : 1sachet
  • curd : 2 tablespoon

How to make Raw Papaya Stuffed Beetroot Suji Idli

  1. First saute mustard seeds in hot oil. later on add onions and Saute till golden.
  2. Add all spices and saute for 2 minutes.
  3. Now add raw papaya and cook on low flame till it softens and all water evaporates.
  4. Now switch off the flame and keep aside to cool . Our stuffing is ready.
  5. Idli preparation :
  6. First mix suji, curd and beetroot juice till lumpfree. Add water if needed to make batter. Batter should be of medium consistency , not so thick or runny.
  7. Now in a pan add oil and roast mustard seeds and curry leaves .
  8. Pour this oil with spices in suji mixture and mix well.
  9. Now add eno and mix again. Mixture is ready to steam now.
  10. Now idli batter and stuffing is ready .
  11. Pour one teaspoon of suji batter in greased idly mould then add 1 teaspoon of papaya stuffing. At last again add suji batter and cover papaya stuffing with it nicely.
  12. Ready all idlis like this to steam.
  13. Steam in microwave for 3 minutes. Do toothpick test to check whether idlis are ready. Steam all idlis like this.
  14. Serve hot idlis with coriander-peanut chutney and coconut chutney.

My Tip:

Papaya stuffing should be completely cool to fill in idlis.
