ABOUT Palanga saga bhaja (Palak ki sabji/Spinach stir fry) RECIPE

Palanga saga bhaja is an authentic Odia recipe. It is a very simple fry with pumpkin, coconut and badi(sun dried lentil dumplings). It is best served with Rice and Dal.In Summer it is relished with pakhala(water rice).

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Spinach 1bunch
  2. Pumpkin 1/2cup chopped
  3. Badi/Urad daal wadi 4-5(sun dried lentil dumplings)
  4. Coconut shredded 3-4tbsp
  5. Mustard Oil 1 tbsp
  6. Salt as per taste
  7. Panch phoron 1tsp
  8. Dry red chilli 1
  9. Crushed garlic 2cloves

Instructions

  1. Wash, clean and chop the spinach.
  2. Fry badi and keep aside.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and add panch phoron, dry red chilli,crushed garlic.
  4. Then add pumpkin.
  5. Sprinkle little salt and fry till soft.
  6. Add chopped spinach.
  7. Mix well.
  8. Add fried and crushed badi and coconut,
  9. Add salt and mix well.
  10. Serve hot with rice and daal.
