Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Bhendi 1/4 kg
  2. Coconut grated 1/4 kg
  3. Buttermilk 2 cup
  4. Water 2 cup
  5. Salt to taste
  6. Green chilli 1-2
  7. For seasoning...
  8. Red chilli 1
  9. Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  10. Urad dal 1 tsp
  11. Methi seeds 1/4 tsp
  12. Cooking oil 1 tsp


  1. Wash, dry and chop Bhendi in to 1" pieces.
  2. Boil a cup of buttermilk and a cup of water.
  3. Add salt.
  4. While finely boiling add chopped Bhendi.
  5. Cook them well in medium flame.
  6. In the meantime grind coconut and green chilli by adding some water.
  7. Transfer the ground coconut paste in to cooked Bhendi.
  8. Add sufficient buttermilk and water.
  9. Mix well.
  10. Allow it to boil without stirring.
  11. When it starts boiling, stir once,
  12. Turn off the flame.
  13. Add red chilli, mustard seeds, urad dal, methi in a pan.
  14. Once it starts splutter, add it to majjige huli.
  15. It goes well with steamed rice, rice shyavige and so on.
