Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Moong Dal 1/2 cup
  2. Split wheat 1/2cup
  3. rice 1/2 cup
  4. Minced onion 1 tablespoon
  5. ginger Garlic paste 1 teaspoon
  6. cumin seeds 1 teaspoon
  7. Salt and chilly according to taste
  8. Asoefoetida 1 pinch
  9. Garam masala 1 teaspoon
  10. Dhaniya powder 1 teaspoon
  11. Few coriander leaves to garnish
  12. Desi ghee 1 tablespoon


  1. First wash moong dal, rice and split wheat 3-4 times and keep aside.
  2. Now heat ghee in a pressure cooker.
  3. Add cumin seeds and asofaetida . Roast for few seconds and add ginger garlic paste with onions.
  4. Now saute onions till raw aroma goes off.
  5. Now add all spices except garam masala and saute for few seconds more. Add water in cooker with washed split wheat, moong dal and rice.
  6. Now lid the cooker and cook till 2 whistles. Switch off the flame.
  7. Open the cooker when steam releases itself. Boil once with open lid and switch off the flame.
  8. Garnish with coriander leaves, garam masala and red chilly.
  9. Serve hot with roasted papad and pickle . Tihri is ready to enjoy in mom's way.
