In north India Chhole(chickpea curry) is often eaten as a breakfast dish, it can also be a street food or a complete meal, go best with bhature, puri or kulcha. Nothing says more like being in india than chhole puri with a glass of lassi for breakfast. Country riesiding- Saudi Arabia

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. 1 cup white chickpeas
  2. 2 onion
  3. 3 Green chilli
  4. 2 tomatoes
  5. 3 tablespoon chhole masala
  6. 1 tablespoon ginger garlic paste
  7. 4 cloves
  8. 1/4 inch piece of cinnamon stick
  9. 1 bay leaf
  10. 1 black cardmom
  11. 8 black pepper
  12. 4 Green Cardmom
  13. 1 tablespoon coriander seeds
  14. Mustard oil
  15. 2tsp cumin seeds
  16. 1tsp chilli powder
  17. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  18. 1tsp coriander powder
  19. Salt to taste


  1. Soak white chickpeas or kabuli chana for 6 to 8 hours or over night.
  2. Wash n boil chana with salt.
  3. Take a blender jar add chopped onion, green chilli, coriander seeds, 1tsp cumin seeds, cloves, black pepper, green cardmom, black cardmom and grind to make a smooth paste.
  4. Heat oil in a pan, add 1tsp cumin seeds, bay leaf and saute till aromatic.
  5. Then add ginger garlic paste n saute till row aroma goes off.
  6. Add onion paste, turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder, chhole masala and saute till oil separate..
  7. Add chopped tomatoes n saute for 2,3 minutes till tomatoes cooked.
  8. Now add cooked kabuli chana mix everything well.
  9. Add 1 cup water, sprinkle salt and simmer for 2,4 minutes on low flame.
  10. Switch off the flame, garnish with chopped coriander and Serve hot.
