ABOUT Rice vermicelli sheera RECIPE

A common breakfast dish on the coastal parts of Maharashtra and Goa.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Rice vermicelli 2 cups
  2. Fresh grated coconut 1 cup
  3. Jaggery 1 cup
  4. Cashew nuts and resins 1/2 cup
  5. Salt to taste
  6. Cardamom powder 2tsp
  7. Water enough for boiling vermicelli
  8. Desi ghee 2 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Boil vermicelli in enough water and a pinch of salt for 5mins
  2. Drain and keep aside
  3. In a nonstick pan add ghee and coconut and saute for 1 min
  4. Add jaggery and saute till jaggery is dissolved
  5. Add nuts and cardamom powder and a pinch of salt
  6. Saute for 1 min
  7. Add the cooked vermicelli and mix well
  8. Keep covered on low flame for a few minutes
  9. Serve hot
