Kids love cakes and what better than to make one, at home. A crumbly soft vanilla cake, with a flowery ICING on top, inspired by the spring.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. Cake flour - 1.5 cups
  2. Eggs - 3 (for eggless version, replace the eggs with 1 cup of yoghurt)
  3. Milk - 3 tbsp
  4. Baking powder - 1 tsp
  5. Vanilla extract - 1 tsp
  6. Sugar - 3/4 th cup
  7. Butter - 1/2 cup
  8. Refined oil - 1/3 rd cup
  9. Butter cream frosting :
  10. Unsalted softened butter - 1/2 cup
  11. Icing sugar - 2 cups
  12. Vanilla extract -1 tsp
  13. Cream - 3 tbsp
  14. How to make cake flour : Take 1.5 cups of maida , remove 3 tbsp of the maida and add 3 tbsp of cornflour.
  15. Gel colours (I have used pink, yellow and blue)


  1. Whisk the butter, oil and sugar till fluffy. Add the eggs ,vanilla extract and whisk.
  2. Sieve the flour and baking powder, keep aside. Now fold in the flour mix and milk into 2 parts into the egg mixture.
  3. Pour this mixture into a greased baking tin, and bake in preheated oven at 165℃ for 35 minutes. Let the cake get cooled enough.
  4. To make the frosting, whisk the butter and add the icing sugar. Whisk and add the vanilla extract.
  5. Whisk until everything is fluffy, add the cream and whisk for few seconds more. Divide the frosting into 3 parts.
  6. Add respective gel colours to 3 parts, pour them into piping bags fitted with nozzles. Pipe flowers onto the cake.
