ABOUT Palak Majjige Huli RECIPE

A simple palak and yogurt based recipe.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Palak/ Spinach leaf 2 bunch
  2. Turmeric 1/2 tsp
  3. Chana dhal 1tsp
  4. Toor dhal 1 tsp
  5. Fenugreek seeds 1/2 tsp
  6. Coriander seeds 1/2 tsp
  7. Green chilly 5-6
  8. Dry or fresh coconut 3-4 tsp
  9. Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp
  10. Ghee 1/2 tsp
  11. Mustard 1/2 tsp
  12. Dry red chilly 4-5
  13. Asafoetida 1/2 tsp
  14. Beaten curd 1 cup
  15. salt as per taste

Instructions

  1. Wash, clean and finely chop the palak leaf and pressure cook with turmeric and water for a whistle.
  2. Soak chana dhal and toor dhal in boiling water for 10 minutes.
  3. Dry roast, without adding oil, roast fenugreek seeds and cumin seeds for 3-4mins or until aromatic.
  4. Let the roasted ingredients cool and grind them along with chana dhal and toor dhal( after draining the water), dry/ fresh coconut, green chilly and water. Grind all this to fine paste.
  5. In a pan add cooked palak after reserving the extra water, salt ground paste and reserved water, allow to boil.
  6. Season with ghee, mustard, dry chilly and asafoetida.
  7. Finally when the palak mixture is warm, add the beaten curd and mix well. Your yummy and healthy palak majjige huli is ready.
