Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. 1 kg Raw Mangoes cut into pieces for pickle
  2. 250 gms mustard powder
  3. 150 gms red chilli powder used for pickles
  4. 250 gms salt
  5. 10 gms mustard seeds
  6. 500 gms gingelly oil
  7. 1 tsp Turmeric


  1. Clean the Mangoes and wipe dry with cloth. Cut into pieces as per requirement with the inside core.
  2. Put mustard seeds in sun and grind it.
  3. Take a vessel add, chilli mustard salt, methi turmeric, add little of the oil and mix thoroughly.
  4. Meanwhile take a big porcelain jar or any big vessel for putting the pickle
  5. In another bowl add 250 gms of oil and dip the Mango pieces and then coat them with the masala mixed.
  6. Put them in the jar.
  7. Pour the remaing oil on the top cover with lid. and leave it for 2 days.
  8. On the third day mix thoroughly, check for salt and add the remaing oil and closed the lid and then cover the jar with cloth.
  9. Leave it for one week.
  10. Hot spicy andhra avakkai is ready.
  11. If you want garlic, add about a big cup of garlic cloves while mixing.
