Sathumaavu/ Health Mix is a combination of various millets , pulses making it highly nutritive . Children get bored consuming regular porridge , idlis prepared using Healthmix . This recipe is super healthy , probiotic rich , gut friendly as yogurt is used as one most prominent ingredient . Nevertheless to say , who doesn’t love munching cakes ..?

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. Sathumaavu/ health mix powder 1.5 cups
  2. Fresh plain yogurt 1 .5 cup
  3. Baking powder 1 teaspoon
  4. Baking soda 1 teaspoon
  5. Salt 1/4 teaspoon
  6. Soft dates seedless 10 finely chopped
  7. Vanilla essence 1 teaspoon
  8. Cinnamon powder 1 teaspoon
  9. Butter at room temperature 1 cup
  10. Ripe long banana 1
  11. Butter for greasing
  12. Whipped cream for topping ( optional )

Instructions

  1. In a wide bowl , take sifted health mix powder .
  2. Add 1 teaspoon baking powder .
  3. Add 1 teaspoon baking soda .
  4. Add 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder .
  5. Mix all together and keep aside .
  6. Take butter , yogurt , vanilla essence , mashed banana , chopped dates in one bowl and whisk gently .
  7. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredient bowl gradually while whisking gently to form a smooth batter .
  8. Grease a tube tin with butter .
  9. Pour the cake batter in the grease tube tin and set to bake in a preheated cooker .
  10. Tap the cake tin once on a flat surface before baking . This step helps air bubbles if any to escape . Thereby , spongy cake guaranteed .
  11. I preheated the cooker with salt for 10 minutes in low to medium heat .
  12. Baking time is 15 minutes inside a preheated cooker .
  13. Check how well the cake is baked with the help of a fork . A clean fork indicates perfect bake .
  14. Once the cake is baked perfectly , take the tin out from the cooker . Allow the cake to cool .
  15. Tilt the cooled down cake on a plate/ tray .
  16. Top it up with whipping cream . This step is optional .
  17. Delicious , super healthy , Healthmix yogurt tube cake is ready .
