Dahi baingan is an authentic dish of Hyderabad,this is no onions and garlic dish

Hyderabadi Dahi baigan

Ingredients to make Hyderabadi Dahi baigan

  • oil 60ml
  • Baigan(brinjal) 500gm
  • dahi(not sour) 210gm
  • gram flour 2tsp
  • salt to taste
  • fennel seed powder 1tsp
  • oil 2tsp
  • cumin seeds 1tsp
  • hing a pinch
  • ginger 1tsp
  • Haldi [turmeric] powder 1/4 tsp
  • Dhania [coriander] powder 2tsp
  • red chilly powder 1tsp
  • Hara Dhania [coriander leaves] Patti for garnish

How to make Hyderabadi Dahi baigan

  1. Heat 60 ml oil in a pan add baingan in the pan and shallow fry untill it's golden brown in colour, keep aside
  2. In a mixing bowl add 210gm Dahi and 2 tsp gram flour, mix well and keep aside
  3. Now heat the oil in a pan, add cumin seed, hing and Ginger in it saute for 2-3 minutes
  4. Add Haldi powder and mix it
  5. Now add Dahi mixture and Mix it well cook for 5-7 minutes
  6. Then add Dhania powder, fennel seed powder, lal Mirch pwd and salt in it .mix well
  7. Add the cooked pieces of baingan in it, mix well and again cook for 10-15 minutes
  8. Garnish with coriander leaves
