Homemade Pav Buns

Ingredients to make Homemade Pav Buns

  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 1/2 tblsp butter
  • 2 tblsp oil
  • 1 1/2 Tsp salt
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 1 tblsp butter for basting
  • For the yeast preparation
  • 2 1/4 tsp dry active yeast
  • 4 tsp luke warm water
  • 3 tsp milk
  • 2 1/2 tsp sugar

How to make Homemade Pav Buns

  1. For the first proof - Warm up milk along with 4 teaspoons of water and sugar. This milk and water should be LUKEWARM and not warm. Mix in the yeast and allow it to foam in about 6-10 minutes.
  2. In a bowl combine flour with salt and baking powder. Mix it well. Slowly and gradually add milk.
  3. By now the yeast should be frothy and would have doubled in size. Add to the flour and mix. Mix in butter and oil. Keep kneading the dough for at least 5-10 minutes.
  4. Dough should be smooth and not sticky Transfer it to a bowl. Cover the dough with a wet towel. And set it in a warm place for at least 1- 2 hours. until doubled in size.
  5. Remove the dough from the bowl, dust it with some flour and start kneading the dough for another five minutes. Divide the dough in 12 equal parts.
  6. Roll dough in the form of balls and set them in the baking tray.Keep some distance between the pavs.
  7. Cover them with a wet towel and set it in a warm place for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  8. Brush pavs with milk and and bake at 200 degree centigrade for 15 -20 minutes or until light brown from the top.
  9. Remove and brush with butter immediately. Eat as soon as cool
