Yogurt Chicken

Ingredients to make Yogurt Chicken

  • chicken 500 gms
  • yoghurt 200 gms
  • Medium sized onion 3 pcs
  • ginger 2 inch pc
  • garlic cloves 3 to 4 pcs
  • Green chilles 7 to 8 pcs
  • bay leaf 2 pcs
  • Dry red chilli 2 pcs
  • salt to taste
  • turmeric 1 tablespoon
  • Kashmiri red chilli 2 tablespon
  • Green cardamom 2 pcs
  • Cinanmon 1 inch stick 1 pc
  • clove 3 pcs
  • Garam masala powder 1 teaspoon
  • cumin powder 1 table spoon
  • coriander powder 1 tablespoon
  • 3 to 4 tablespoon white oil

How to make Yogurt Chicken

  1. Wash and pat dry the chicken pcs and mix it thoroughly with yogurt, salt, Turmeric, 1 tablespoon oil, 3 to 4 green chillies chopped and the whole cardamom, cinnamon and cloves.
  2. Keep the chicken covered for at least 15 mins.
  3. Meanwhile grind 2 onions, garlic and ginger along with 2 dry red chilies to a smooth paste.
  4. Chop the remaining onion finely.
  5. Pressure cook the marinated chicken with all the marinade without water for one whistle.
  6. Heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan.
  7. Add the bay leaf, onions chopped and a pinch of sugar.
  8. Fry till the onion turns translucent.
  9. Add the paste and all the other dry masalas fry till oil separates.
  10. Add the cooked chicken add garam masala powder cover and simmer for 8 to 10 mins.
  11. No need to add water.
  12. Serve hot.

My Tip:

If required add a little warm water.
