Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. 4 potatoes boiled, mashed
  2. Gram flour 1/2 cup
  3. Salt as per taste
  4. 1 green chili, finely chopped
  5. Carom seeds 1/8 teaspoon
  6. Cumin seeds 1/8 teaspoon
  7. Crushed garlic cloves -4
  8. Mustard oil 2 tsp + 1/4 teaspoon + Additional for frying
  9. Garam masala 1 teaspoon
  10. Dried mango powder 1/4 teaspoon
  11. Red chili powder 1/4 teaspoon
  12. Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon
  13. Puffed rice 1 cup
  14. Peanuts 1/8 cup
  15. Water as required

Instructions

  1. Add salt and carom seeds with gram flour in a bowl and mix well.
  2. Add adequate water and mix well to form thick smooth batter
  3. Heat oil in a pan. Add Cumin seeds,garlic and green chili and saute for 2-3 minutes
  4. Add mashed potatoes and saute for 2 minutes over medium flame
  5. Add all spices and mix well. Saute for 1 minute
  6. Allow the mixture to cool completely
  7. Heat oil in a wok for deep frying
  8. Shape potato mixture into lemon sized balls
  9. Flatten with palms and dip in gram flour batter.Deep fry until golden brown
  10. Heat 1/4 teaspoon oil in a pan
  11. Add turmeric powder, peanuts and roast until light golden bown
  12. Add puffed rice and salt. Mix well
  13. Serve crunchy muri with hot aaloo chop
