ABOUT Prawns Potli RECIPE

It is a quick dish which can be prepared in jiffy.It is a stand alone recipe which can be served without any accompaniment.They are delicious and beautiful.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. For filling:
  2. Prawn 10 pieces
  3. Onion 1 , finely chopped
  4. Grated coconut 1/2 cup
  5. Garlic paste 1 teaspoon
  6. Tomato 1 , finely chopped
  7. Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  8. Chili powder 1/2 tsp
  9. Kasmiri red chili powder 1/2 tsp
  10. Jeera powder 1/2 tsp
  11. Salt to taste
  12. Sugar 1/2 tsp
  13. Garam masala 1/2 tsp
  14. Oil for frying
  15. For dough:
  16. Maida 1 cup
  17. Salt to taste
  18. Oil 2 teaspoon
  19. Water as required

Instructions

  1. Clean and devine prawns
  2. Grind prawns to paste
  3. Ina bowl, add flour,salt and oil and mix it well.
  4. Add water and knead into smooth dough
  5. Cover the bowl and rest for 20 minutes.
  6. Heat oil in a pan. Add onions and saute until translucent
  7. Add garlic and tomatoes. Saute until tomatoes are tender
  8. Add in turmeric powder,jeera powder,chili powder,Kashmiri chili powder,sugar and salt. Mix well, saute for 2 minutes
  9. Add prawn paste and grated coconut. Cook for 3 minutes
  10. Add sugar and mix well. cook until done
  11. Add garam masala,mix and cook for 1 minute. Keep it aside.
  12. Divide dough into equal portions. Roll out into thin medium circles
  13. Add the mixture at center
  14. Seal the edges to form pleats and cover them with a slight twist to shape like potlis.
  15. Deep fry potlis in batches over low- medium heat until golden brown
  16. Garnish and serve with cucumber.
