Ingredients to make Dal makkhani

  • 1cup wholeblack gram
  • 1/2 kudney beans
  • 1/2cup chana dal
  • 1tbsp ginger paste
  • 2to 3 green chillies per choice
  • 2tbsp ghee or butter
  • 1tbsp cream
  • jeera n heeng per choice
  • 1/8 tsp baking soda
  • 1 onion grated
  • 1 cup tomato putee of 2tomatoes
  • Salt dhania powder garammasala powder kiychen king powder lal mirch powder per taste
  • 1 +1/2 cup milk

How to make Dal makkhani

  1. Boil all three over night, soak dals in cooker after adding salt and sada for 1 hour with ginger and chillies.
  2. Heat ghee in a pan, fry onion, heeng, Jeera then add tomato puree.
  3. After leaving oil, add all masalas and cook for few minutes.
  4. Then add it to the boiled daal and mix nicely. Add milk to it. Cook for 30 minutes again. Garnish with cream. Serve with roti, naan or rice.

My Tip:

Cook till it becomes really thick.
