It is a side dish prepared by using butter milk,bottle gourd and spices.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 cup Bottle Gourd diced
  2. 2 cups Buttermilk
  3. 2 spoons Chana Dal soaked
  4. 1/4 cup Coconut grated
  5. 1 Onion sliced
  6. 1 Green Chilli
  7. 1 spoon Jeera
  8. 1 spoon Pepper
  9. 2 Garlic cloves
  10. 10 Curry Leaves
  11. 2 spoons Coriander leaves chopped
  12. 1 spoon Mustard seeds
  13. 1/2 spoon Turmeric powder
  14. Pinch of Asafoetida
  15. Salt
  16. Oil


  1. Cook bottle gourd in a vessel with 1 cup water for 10 minutes.
  2. Soak Chana Dal in water for 4 hours.
  3. Grind soaked chana dal, coconut, curry Leaves, onion, green chilli, garlic, pepper, Jeera, coriander leaves in a mixer jar into a fine paste.
  4. Cook bottle gourd in ground paste, add turmeric powder, salt, 1/2 cup water and cook for 5 minutes.
  5. Add Buttermilk and mix well.
  6. For seasoning, in a tadka pan, heat 2 spoons oil, add Mustard seeds, curry Leaves and asafoetida, pour it to Buttermilk.
  7. Bottle Gourd Yogurt Curry is ready to serve with rice.
