ABOUT Dilkhush/Dilpasand RECIPE

A popular indian bakery snack. It is a simple dish and combination of tutti frutti with desiccated coconut makes it a lip-smacking snack.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Maida 2cups
  2. sugar 1tbsp
  3. Active dry yeast 1/2tbsp
  4. Salt a pinch
  5. oil 1tbsp
  6. Warm water 1/4 cup
  7. Milk 2-3tbsp or as needed
  8. For stuffing -
  9. Desiccated coconut 1/2 cup
  10. Powdered sugar 1/4cup
  11. Tutti frutti 1/4cup
  12. Cherry 4tbsp
  13. Chopped dry fruits 4tbsp
  14. cardamom powder 1 tsp
  15. Ghee/butter 1tbsp
  16. Milk and melted butter for brushing


  1. Take yeast and sugar in a small mixing bowl.
  2. Add warm water and mix well.
  3. Keep covered for 5-10 minutes or till frothy.
  4. Take another mixing bowl and add maida, salt, oil and yeast mixture.
  5. Knead to a dough. If required add 1-2tbsp milk.
  6. Keep it covered for 1 to 2 hours.
  7. It will be double by size.
  8. Once double, punch it down and knead it for 2-3 minutes. Divide the dough in two balls 3:2 proportion.
  9. For stuffing- add all the ingredients listed in a mixing bowl.
  10. Preheat the oven at 180°C.
  11. Roll out the smaller portion little thick than the usual chapati and spread the filling.
  12. Roll another ball and use this to cover the filling and lock the sides with fork or finger.
  13. Cover and rest it for another 30mins.
  14. Make slits on the upper crust to let the air pass while baking.
  15. Brush the crust with milk and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  16. Once done, brush it with butter.
  17. Dilkhush is ready to serve.
