Goan coconut prawn curry

Ingredients to make Goan coconut prawn curry

  • 20 prawns ( cleaned and deveined)
  • Enough water to soak the prawns completely
  • For ground masala :
  • 8 dried kashmiri red chillies
  • 6 garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon whole peppercorns
  • 1 teaspoon whole coriander seeds
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon tamarind paste
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 cup greated coconut
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • For the curry :
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon finely minced ginger
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onions
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped tomatoes
  • salt to taste
  • 2 cups cooked rice

How to make Goan coconut prawn curry

  1. Wash prawns and keep aside
  2. Ground aal the ingredients mentioned under ground masala to a smooth paste and set aside
  3. In a pan heat coconut oil add ginger and onions
  4. Saute till the onions are light golden brown
  5. Add tomatoes and saute for 7 minutes till they break down easily with the back of the spoon
  6. Add the ground masala and salt to the pan and bring it to a boil
  7. Reduce the flame and simmer the masala for 10- 15 minutes till the colour deepens slightly
  8. Add prawns to the gravy and cook them for 7-8 minutes
  9. Sprinkle curry leaves on top
  10. Mix well and switch off the flame
  11. Serve hot with rice

My Tip:

U may add curry leaves before serve in plate or bowl
