Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 20 prawns ( cleaned and deveined)
  2. Enough water to soak the prawns completely
  3. For ground masala :
  4. 8 dried kashmiri red chillies
  5. 6 garlic cloves
  6. 1 teaspoon whole peppercorns
  7. 1 teaspoon whole coriander seeds
  8. 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  9. 1 teaspoon tamarind paste
  10. 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  11. 1/2 cup greated coconut
  12. 1 cup coconut milk
  13. For the curry :
  14. 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  15. 1 tablespoon finely minced ginger
  16. 1/2 cup finely chopped onions
  17. 1/2 cup finely chopped tomatoes
  18. Salt to taste
  19. 2 cups cooked rice

Instructions

  1. Wash prawns and keep aside
  2. Ground aal the ingredients mentioned under ground masala to a smooth paste and set aside
  3. In a pan heat coconut oil add ginger and onions
  4. Saute till the onions are light golden brown
  5. Add tomatoes and saute for 7 minutes till they break down easily with the back of the spoon
  6. Add the ground masala and salt to the pan and bring it to a boil
  7. Reduce the flame and simmer the masala for 10- 15 minutes till the colour deepens slightly
  8. Add prawns to the gravy and cook them for 7-8 minutes
  9. Sprinkle curry leaves on top
  10. Mix well and switch off the flame
  11. Serve hot with rice
