About Kayal Special Kozhi Appam Recipe

Learnt this recipe from my friend who is from kayalpattinam .Kozhi Appam is nothing but instant Maida Appam.

Kayal Special Kozhi Appam

Ingredients to make Kayal Special Kozhi Appam

  • maida - 1 +1/4 cups
  • sugar -1 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • egg -1
  • water -1 +1/4 cups
  • Thick coconut milk -1 +1/4 cups
  • turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • ghee - 1/2 tsp+ greasing

How to make Kayal Special Kozhi Appam

  1. In a bowl mix maida,salt,sugar,egg, Turmeric powder .
  2. Then mix with water and coconut milk without any lumps.Then strain the batter.
  3. Then add 1 tsp ghee.the batter should be thin consistency.
  4. Heat a non stick kadai,grease with ghee,Pour the on ladle full of batter.Then swirl the pan so that it will spread evenly.
  5. When the appam cooks then it leavesthe side of the pan.Invert the appam directly to a plate and fold it as triangle.No need to flip on other side.
  6. Serve hot with any gravy of your choice but recommend to serve with chicken kuzhambu.
