ABOUT Jhinge aloo posto ( ridge gourd , potatoes with poppy seeds) RECIPE

It's a traditional bengali veg curry from west bengal.its all time favourite for every bengalies.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 2 ridge gourd ( midium size chopped)
  2. 1 midium size potato(chopped)
  3. Posto or poppy seeds paste( 1 midium size bowl)
  4. Salt to taste
  5. Kolonji or kalo jeera 1tsp
  6. Turmeric powder 1tbsp
  7. Red chilli powder 1tsp
  8. green chillies 2
  9. Mustard oil 3tbsp

Instructions

  1. In a pan, heat oil and put kolonji , green chilli .
  2. Add chopped onions.
  3. Add potatoes .
  4. Now add chopped ridge gourd or jhinge.
  5. Add all the spices wit it.
  6. Add salt and sugar to taste.
  7. Let it cook till the potatoes are done.
  8. Add poppy seeds paste.
  9. Cover it with a lid. Let it cook for sometimes.
  10. Once it's done. Serve it with hot white rice.
