ABOUT Muga Thikhri RECIPE

A simple yet tricky sweet recipe of mung dal and this is zero oil too. This is a typical Odia recipe specially made during puja , fast or festival in western part of Odisha

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Dhuli moongdal 1cup
  2. Sugar or jaggery powder 5tbs
  3. Salt a pinch
  4. Cardamom powder 1/4tsp
  5. Water as required
  6. Ghee a little for greasing plate

Instructions

  1. Soak dal in water for sometime.
  2. Grind it to a fine paste adding a little water.
  3. Add some water and make it to a thin batter consistency.
  4. Now heat a kadai on medium flame.
  5. Pour the batter and stir continuously on slow flame
  6. Add the rest ingredients.
  7. Stir continuously and let it cool to a thick custard like consistency.
  8. Switch of the flame and let it cool a little.
  9. Take out this to a greased plate and set flat with back of a spatula
  10. Once it becomes cool, cut diamond shapes out of it
  11. Refrigerate this and serve chilled.
