This is an authentic bengali old dish from west bengal.bottle gourd cooked with yellow lentils and lentil dumplings makes a perfect deliciously combination.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 midium size Lau or bottle gourd.
  2. 2tbsp moong or yellow lentils
  3. 1/2 cup bori or yellow lentils
  4. 1tsp cumin seeds
  5. 1tsp turmeric powder
  6. 3tbsp mustard oil
  7. 1 tsp salt to taste
  8. Sugar to taste
  9. 1tsp ginger paste
  10. 2green chillies
  11. 1small tomatoes

Instructions

  1. Roast moong daal in a tawoa.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, fry yellow lentil dumplings or bori.keep it aside.
  3. In the same oil, add cumin seed green chillies and bay leaf.
  4. Add lau or chopped bottle gourds and ginger paste now.
  5. Add tomatoes now.
  6. Add all the spices and mix it well.cover the lid.
  7. In a mean while , add moong daal .
  8. When it's about to done, add fried bori with it.
  9. Lastly add ghee and garam masala. Serve it with hot steamed rice .
