Ingredients to make Alu ki simple sabji

  • Aalu/potatoes 500 gm, of cylindrical shapes
  • 1/2 cup dry coconut
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp haldi
  • 1 tsp dhaniya powder
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • salt to taste
  • 2-3 tsp sugar
  • 4-5 tsp oil
  • Tadka Ingredients:
  • mustard seeds
  • cumin seeds
  • hing
  • curry leaves
  • Coriander for garnishing

How to make Alu ki simple sabji

  1. Take the cylindrical potatoes, wash them properly and boil it in the cooker but do not overcook it. (Make sure that it is parboiled so that we can easily slice it as shown in the picture. )
  2. After boiling, cool it and peel to make half inches slices like how we make cucumber slices in sandwiches. Keep these slices aside.
  3. To make the masala, take a bowl and put in the grated dry coconut, salt, red chilli powder, haldi, dhaniya powder, sugar and mix all the ingredients well together.
  4. Than take a pan and heat oil it it, then add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, hing and curry leaves. Next, put in the prepared masala and stir it for 1 minute.
  5. Add 1/4 cup of water and stir it continually till it leaves the oil, now add the add boiled potato slices. Mix it well and add the lemon juice as well. Cover with a lid a let it cook for 2 3 mins.
  6. Serve it hot with fulkas.
