A very easy and tasty rice preparation

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Basmati rice - 1 big cup
  2. Tomato- 3 cut into small pieces
  3. Onion- 2 cut into thin slices
  4. Ghee- 1 tbspn
  5. Whole spices- as per taste (cardamom, Cinnamon,bay leaf,star anise,black pepper corns,clove fennel seeds,cumin)
  6. Kashmiri chilly powder- 1 tspn
  7. Lemon - half
  8. Salt to taste
  9. Oil - 1 & half tbspn
  10. Water - 2 cups(use same cup for measuring rice)
  11. Coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Wash the rice and soak for 10 minutes ...Drain and keep it aside later. Take a pan ....Heat it...Put oil and ghee....Then add all the whole spices...Saute for about 30 seconds....
  2. Then add the sliced onions and saute again for 2 to 3 minutes
  3. Then add chopped tomatoes....Fry till soft...
  4. Add the washed and drained rice...
  5. Fry well....Add the measured water and put salt... squeeze lemon juice.mix well
  6. Close with lid and let it cook on medium flame for 5 to 6 minutes
  7. Turn off the gas when it is cooked...
  8. Garnish with coriander leaves...
  9. Serve hot with rajya of your choice
