Misal Pav

Ingredients to make Misal Pav

  • 250 grams mixed sprouts
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tomato finely chopped
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp Maharatrian goda masala
  • 3 tbsp groundnut oil
  • salt to taste
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves
  • For special misal masala-
  • 1 onion finely sliced
  • 3 tbsp dessicated coconut
  • 2 tbsp groundnut oil.

How to make Misal Pav

  1. First we will make misal masala. In a deep skillet heat oil and fry onions till golden brown. Once nice and brown add dessicated coconut powder and fry till the raw smell goes off. Let it cool and then grind it with little water into smooth paste.
  2. In a pressure cooker heat oil and add in chopped onions and ginger-garlic paste and fry till golden brown. Add tomatoes and saute it too.
  3. Next add in all the spice powders and mix in well. When the mixture leaves oil, add in the ground paste and mix it till nicely combined.
  4. Now add in sprouts and slowly mix it. Add water and cook it for 2 whistles.
  5. Once cooked add salt and coriander leaves and again boil it for some time.
  6. Garnish with coriander leaves, sev,onion and squeeze half a lemon over misal. Serve hot with pav/bread.
