Ingredients to make Rava Ladoo

  • 1 cup : semolina / Sooji / Upma rava
  • 1 cup : Fresh coconut
  • 1 Cup : sugar
  • 1 tsp : cardamom powder
  • 1 tbsp : ghee
  • 1/4 Cup : Roasted chopped nuts of choice
  • 1/4 cup : Milk

How to make Rava Ladoo

  1. Dry grind the Coconut in a blender until coarse and set aside.
  2. Heat a deep non stick pan with ghee once hot add the semolina and roast on low heat until aromatic without changing its color.
  3. Next add in the ground coconut, stir well and cook for couple of seconds.
  4. Later turn off the heat and add the sugar, give it a good mix and remove in to a wider bowl.
  5. Next add the cardamom powder and chopped nuts, stir well until all are combined.
  6. Cool this mixture a bit, until pliable at room temperature.
  7. Later by sprinkling the milk as required shape the rava mixture into ladoos by pressing firmly.
  8. Shape the rest of the mixture in the same manner and store in an airtight container.
  9. Cherish while stock lasts, stays best at room temperature for upto a week.
  10. Make and enjoy ...simple yet tasty dessert ready to hogg !!

My Tip:

I used roasted nuts but if you are using dry ones roast them in the ghee first and later stir in the semolina.. Adjust the sugar as per your taste but i feel the sugar quantity mentioned is perfect for Indian palette !!
