Savoury Modaks (South-Indian style)

Ingredients to make Savoury Modaks (South-Indian style)

  • Rice flour - 1/2 small bowl
  • water- 1 glass
  • green chilly- 1/2 finely chopped
  • ginger- 1/4 inch piece finely chopped
  • curry leaves - few finely chopped
  • salt to taste
  • Kashmiri red chilly powder- 1/2 tspn
  • oil- 1 tspn
  • mustard seeds- 1/2 tspn
  • Modak mould

How to make Savoury Modaks (South-Indian style)

  1. Heat a pan ...Then put oil...When hot add mustard seeds
  2. After they splutter add finely chopped green chillies, ginger and curry leaves ....
  3. Fry for 2 minutes
  4. Then pour water in it ...add salt , red chilly powder
  5. Then let it boil....When it boils add the rice flour in it and keep stirring continuously or else lumps get formed...
  6. Let it cook for 2 minutes... Then turn off the gas...And let it cool slightly
  7. Now grease the moulds and put the cooked rice mixture in it and make modak shapes
  8. Later steam it for 5 minutes
  9. Once it gets cooled your savoury modaks are ready to be served....
