About Bhindi Masala Recipe

North Indian Bhandi Masala is a simple dry curry made with bhindi and is served with rori and rice.

Bhindi Masala

Ingredients to make Bhindi Masala

  • 250 gram bhindi
  • 5 or 6 tbsp oil
  • 1 cup chopped onions
  • 2 tbsp ginger garlic Crushed
  • 1 cup chopped tomatoes
  • salt as needed
  • 2 green chilli slit
  • 1 table spoon turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp red chilli powder
  • 2 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1 tbsp Garam masala
  • two tablespoons kasuri methi
  • water is needed

How to make Bhindi Masala

  1. WASH 500 GMS OKRA, ALLOW THEM TO DRY
  2. REMOVE BOTH THE ENDS, CHOP INTO 1-2 INCH PIECES
  3. HEAT 2 TBSP OIL, ADD THE OKRA
  4. SAUTE FOR 5-6 MINS ON A MEDIUM HEAT, KEEP STIRRING IN BETWEEN
  5. SET ASIDE THE OKRA
  6. HEAT 2 TBSP OIL, ADD 1 TSP CUMIN SEEDS
  7. ADD 2-3 CHOPPED ONIONS, SAUTE UNTIL GOLDEN BROWN
  8. ADD 1 TSP GINGER-GARLIC PASTE, SAUTE UNTIL GOLDEN BROWN
  9. ADD 2 CHOPPED TOMATOES, 1 GREEN CHILLI, SAUTE UNTIL THEY TURN SOFT
  10. ADD SALT, 1/2 TSP EACH OF TURMERIC & RED CHILLI POWDERS, 1 TSP CORIANDER POWDER
  11. SAUTE UNTIL THE MASALA LEAVES THE SIDES, ADD 1/4 CUP WATER
  12. ADD 1 TSP KASURI METHI, MIX WELL
  13. ADD THE STIR-FRIED OKRA, MIX WELL
  14. COVER & COOK ON A LOW-MEDIUM HEAT UNTIL SOFT
  15. UNCOVER, SAUTE FOR 1-2 MINS TILL THE MOISTURE DRIES UP
  16. ADD 1/2 TSP GARAM MASALA, MIX, SERVE HOT WITH ROTI / PARANTHA / DAL-CHAWAL
