Radhaballabi or stuffed urad daal poori is a very common appetizer in Bengali marriage or special occasion.This tastiest pooris are best goes with dum aloo.Bengali people love to have it as Sunday breakfast.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. For radhaballavi...
  2. All purpose flour...3cup
  3. Fennel seeds...1tspn
  4. Cumin seeds...1tspn
  5. Dry red chilli...2
  6. Green chilli...2
  7. Ginger paste...1tspn
  8. Oil for frying
  9. Salt to taste..
  10. Urad dal...1cup
  11. For dum aloo...
  12. Boiled potato...1/2kg
  13. Onion_ginger_garlic paste...2tspn
  14. Green chilli paste...1tspn
  15. Red chilli powder...1tspn
  16. turmeric powder...1tspn
  17. Bay leaves ...1
  18. Cloves...5
  19. Dry red chilli...2
  20. Ghee...1tspn
  21. Asafoetida...1/2spn
  22. Sugar...1/4teaspn
  23. Salt to taste


  1. For stuffing, overnight soak urad daal.Then make a paste of it with green chilli,salt & ginger.
  2. Make a dough of flour,salt,1tspn oil & required water.
  3. Heat 1tspn oil & add the lentil mixture in it.Stir it constantly to avoid from burning.Make a powder of 1tspn each cumin & fennel seeds & dry red chilli.Add it to the lentil mixture.
  4. When it will start to leave the side of the pan ,switch off the flame.
  5. For dum aloo,heat oil & add whole spices.Let it crackle.
  6. Add onion,ginger garlic paste.Saute it for few minutes.
  7. Add all spices.
  8. Add boiled potatoes & cook it gor 4 to 5 minutes.Then add water & cover it.
  9. Make a mixture of 1tspn ghee, hing & 1tspn water.
  10. Add it to the curry & cook it for more 2 to 3 minutes.
  11. Now for poori take small portion from dough,roll it & put some lentil mixture in it.Seal it well.
  12. Again roll it carefully.
  13. Heat enough oil & deep fry it.
  14. Tasty tasty radhaballavi & dum aloo is ready to serve.
