Aunthentic dish of odisha,special aloo dum dahi vada is ready to have in breakfast.My maternal's home is in odisha and whenever i go , i never forgot to it eat. Its also an chatpatta and lite breakfast.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Vada
  2. 2 cup of urad dal
  3. 1 teaspoon of black pepper
  4. 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda
  5. Salt taste to according
  6. 1 1/2 cup of curd
  7. 1 1/2 teaspoon roasted Cumen powder
  8. 1 teaspoon of sugar
  9. 1 teaspoon of salt
  10. 1/2 glass of water
  11. Aloo dum
  12. 4 boiled potatoes
  13. 2 tomato chopped
  14. 1 onion chopped
  15. 1 teaspoon jeera
  16. 2 teaspoon coriander Powder
  17. 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  18. 2 teaspoon of chilli powder
  19. Coriander leaves
  20. Salt
  21. Oil
  22. Curry leaves
  23. Jeera powder


  1. Soak 2 cups of urad Dal for 5 hrs and then grind it into a fine and thick paste.
  2. Add some salt and black pepper. Mix everything well and fry this in hot oil. Remove the vada from the oil and soak the vada in cold water for about 10 minutes.
  3. Add 2 teaspoon of oil in a pan and add few curry leaves. Add this to curd mix. Now put the vada in the curd mix. Serve this on top with some alo dum curry, some finely chopped onion and sev.
  4. For aloo curry: Take oil in a pan and add jeera and kadipatta patta. Now add onion and tomato and saute for sometime.
  5. Now add turmeric powder, salt, red chilli powder, coriander powder and jeera powder. Cook for sometime.
  6. Add some water, cook for 5 Minutes and add alo to it. Cook for 3-4 minutes. When it thickens remove it from gas and garnish with corainder leaves.
