Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Moong dal yellow 1 cup
  2. Milk 1 cup
  3. Water 1 cup
  4. Sugar 1 cup
  5. Ghee 1 cup
  6. Dry fruits as per taste
  7. Elaichi powder 1 teaspoon


  1. Soak moong dal for 3 to 4 hours
  2. Grind the dal coarse in mixer with no water or minimum water
  3. Add ghee in a non stick pan and put dal paste in the ghee and mix it properly
  4. Roast the dal very well untill it changes colour and nice aroma spreads
  5. It takes almost 20 minutes to roast the dal
  6. Then add milk and warm water to the pan
  7. Then mixture will be little thick. Mix it well and cover the pan with lid for 2 minutes.
  8. Once the dal becomes soft add dry fruits
  9. Then add sugar. Halwa will be little watery and ghee will get separated.
  10. Stir halwa well untill sugar completely dissolve and ghee separate from the halwa
  11. Add elaichi powder and off the flame.
  12. Halwa is ready. Serve it hot.
